Increased sampling – High Risk Food/Feed Not of Animal Origin (HRFNAO)

In response to the reduced operating capacities / capabilities brought about by the unprecedented measures to control the spread of COVID-19 the Food Standards Agency / European Union permitted the deferment of some of the high risk product sampling regimes. This easement of requirements did not suspend the sampling percentages to be achieved over the 3/ 6 month reference period, only defer it.

In this post lockdown period, SCPHA is returning its service to near pre-COVID levels; as part of that recovery the deferred high risk product samples are now being addressed. For a limited period, which will end when sampling frequencies return to legislative specified levels, you may experience an increase in examination and sampling of certain products. SCPHA will continue to monitor the deferred sampling frequencies in order to minimise the duration of this enhanced sampling.
