Poultry meat and Egg products certificate changes

03-Feb-2017 New format health certificates introduced for poultry meat and egg products

If you import poultry meat or egg products you need to make sure that you know about changes to the health certification. New format certificates are required for certificates issued from the 28th February, and where the vessel arrives after the 28th March 2017.

The 3rd country list has also been amended in relation to Israel and Macedonia - if you import poultry meat from these countries you need to check the requirements.

These changes were made in Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2017/151 which:-

  • replaces the health certificate required for the import of fresh poultry meat (certificate POU)
  • makes a minor amendment to the egg products certificate (EP) laid down in Commission Regulation (EC) No 798/2008.

Certificates in the current format are valid only if they are:-

  • signed before 28th February 2017
  • the consignment arrives on or before 28th March 2017

There are also changes to the third country list affecting Israel and The former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia following an audit by the European Commission.
